Our Charge
At Don't Count Me Out, we believe everyone who needs the protection of a mask in the fight against COVID-19 should have access to one, especially those generally counted out. Unfortunately, due to a lack of income and devastating poverty, many can’t afford a quality, reusable Class I medical, reusable mask.
The economic downturn has made it difficult for the formerly average income Georgian to afford basic needs. Georgia has experienced its highest unemployment levels since the Great Depression. About 2.5 million Georgians have filed for unemployment since the crisis began in early March 2020. The state unemployment rate now stands at 7.6% according to the Georgia’s State Department of Labor. We partner with Gwinnett County and state of Georgia run health departments to support those who need help staying safe as they segue back into normal life.

Ten year old Malon James has summon his talents, connections and mentors like, Atlanta Judge Terrinee Gundy, to make a space for our Community Partners to offer their own gifts and talents and work together toward the same goal: providing masks and coronavirus support to those who need it but can’t afford it.

This is evidenced by the devastating toll COVID-19 has exacted on long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, which account for a staggering percentage of coronavirus deaths nationwide.
